Early-Age Orthodontics

Guiding Growing Smiles, Early

The best time to shape a healthy smile is while the jaw is still growing. By watching your child’s development early, we can guide teeth and jaws into place, often preventing bigger, costlier problems later. We start consultations as early as age one.

Sleep & Breathing for Kids

Better Sleep Starts with Healthy Breathing

Snoring, mouth breathing and restless nights are not always just a phase. They can be signs of an airway that needs support. Led by Dr. Michelle Lee, a Diplomate of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, we look at how your child breathes, sleeps and grows.

SIGNS TO WATCH FOR

Snoring, mouth breathing, restless sleep, grinding, daytime tiredness, or trouble focusing. If any sound familiar, mention it at your child’s next visit.

Go easy on sticky and sugary snacks

Water between meals, not juice

Small routines now prevent big problems later.

QUESTIONS from parents

Frequently Asked Questions

Children as young as one can visit us. Even if they do not have many teeth yet, an early visit lets them get familiar with the sights and sounds of the office, so that later visits feel routine rather than frightening.

Our children’s dentistry is provided by our general dentists, who see children every day and have done since 2009. If your child needs care beyond what a general dentist should provide, we will say so and refer you to the right specialist.

We go at your child’s pace and explain everything before we do it. We use the Wand, a computer-controlled system that delivers freezing slowly and steadily rather than as a sudden injection, and our team is used to reading when a child needs a break.

Usually every six months, the same as adults. Children who are prone to cavities may benefit from more frequent visits, and we will tell you if that applies.

Yes. Our digital X-rays use around 70 percent less radiation than traditional film, and we only take them when there is a reason. A typical set of four bitewings is roughly equivalent to one to two hours on a plane.

Often, yes. Sealants protect the grooved chewing surfaces of new adult molars where brushing struggles to reach, and fluoride strengthens enamel against decay. Both are quick, painless and considerably cheaper than treating a cavity later.
