QUESTIONS from patients
The area is fully frozen first, so you should feel pressure but not pain. We use the Wand for freezing, which delivers the anaesthetic slowly rather than in one go, and most patients find it far more comfortable than they expected.
We offer oral sedation, which is medication taken before your appointment to help you feel calm and relaxed. It is not the same as IV or general anaesthetic, which we do not provide. If your case needs deeper sedation we will refer you to an oral surgeon rather than attempt it here.
Most people feel noticeably better within two to three days, with the socket closing over the following couple of weeks. We will give you aftercare instructions before you leave and you can call us if anything does not look right.
Soft, cool foods for the first day or two, and avoid drinking through a straw or smoking, since the suction can dislodge the clot and cause a dry socket. Chew on the other side until it feels comfortable.
Often, yes. When a tooth is removed the neighbouring teeth tend to drift and the opposing tooth can over-erupt, which changes your bite over time. Options are a bridge, a partial denture or an implant, and we will walk you through the trade-offs rather than push one.
